StoryBots:

How do you teach kids to read without making it feel like a lesson?
For Netflix’s Learn to Read with StoryBots, we created a series of music videos that turn phonics into playful, memorable worlds. Each song needed to feel unmistakably StoryBots while giving us room to explore a fresh visual style.
For “CH,” we imagined a colorful journey through mountains, crocodiles, chinchillas, trains, and a whole lot of joy. Working across illustration, design, and animation, we built a world that could make learning feel like play.

One of the challenges of the series was giving each music video its own personality while keeping it connected to the larger StoryBots world. We explored a range of visual directions with artists Dominique Ramsey (Silent K), Aaron Ray (CH), and Whitney Lam & Peiqing Lu (ACK), ultimately developing a bright, graphic language filled with expressive characters, unexpected details, and playful movement.
The result is deliberately energetic and a little unpredictable—designed to hold a young viewer’s attention while reinforcing the sounds and words at the heart of the lesson.
