Believe In Ghosts
Courtney Dixon
Courtney Dixon’s Believe in Ghosts tells the story of Samantha “Foxx” Winship, owner of Mother’s Finest Urban Farm in North Carolina, and the generations of Black farmers whose relationship with the land has been shaped by systemic discrimination.
Believe in Ghosts is ultimately about more than farming. It is about land, inheritance, memory, and the systems that determine who gets to belong to a place. We were honored to help Courtney and Samantha tell that story—and to use our craft in service of a film that asks us to look at history a little more honestly. We love collaborating with filmmakers to give important stories a distinctive visual and editorial voice.

The film moves between Samantha’s present-day experience and the history that shaped it. Our creative exploration began with that tension. We worked with archival imagery and developed a tactile style that could acknowledge the weight of that history while still feeling like it belonged inside the intimate, Super 16 world of the documentary.
