Future of the Classroom
Education is evolving at a faster pace than any other period in recent history. There’s a growing awareness among educators and families that today’s curriculum needs to evolve to meet tomorrow’s reality. Beyond tools and technology, students need to develop new skills to solve tough problems, collaborate effectively, and express ideas in new ways.
To better understand these changes, Google for Education partnered with a global team of researchers and analysts to examine evidence-based shifts in classroom education.
To bring that story to life, Coat of Arms developed the journey of a pencil. A metaphor for our students across the world and for the trends Google for Education found. The result is a film that doesn't simply explain the future of the classroom—it invites you to imagine it.

The Story
When you're talking about the future of education, the temptation is to visualize technology: screens, classrooms, devices, AI. Instead, we went back to something much simpler: a pencil. It became a stand-in for the student, moving through an unfamiliar world, encountering obstacles, discovering new possibilities, and ultimately finding its purpose. That simplicity gave us a way to make a complex set of trends feel personal.

With open hearts and a lens focused on education, we share these project files and details with you, our community, so that you may glean from them something inspirational.
Or tell us how we could have done it more efficiently! We hope our project files may help you in your pursuit of design, animation, and art; but we ask that you respect the artist in these files. In the brush strokes, in the layers of texture, and in each keyframe, sits a person who labored and agonized over their art. So, please use these for educational purposes and steal only the wisdom behind them not the content or ingredients.
Please. Thank you. And godspeed.
