Global Displays: Inflatable Art
Salesforce
Lobbies are thresholds to the first breath before a meeting, a new job, or an unfamiliar day. For Salesforce's global offices, from New York to Dublin to Sydney, we were asked to create a world of balloons to make that welcome a little more playful.
We created a global animation system of drifting inflatables—characters, icons, and forms that slowly fill the space with squish, bounce and unexpected warmth.

With open hearts and a lens focused on education,
we share these project files and details with you, our community, so that you may glean from them something inspirational.
Or tell us how we could have done it more efficiently! We hope our project files may help you in your pursuit of design, animation, and art; but we ask that you respect the artist in these files. In the brush strokes, in the layers of texture, and in each keyframe, sits a person who labored and agonized over their art. So, please use these for educational purposes and steal only the wisdom behind them not the content or ingredients.
Please. Thank you. And godspeed.

Creative Brief

Harnessing the metaphor of inflatables, we sought to express energy and optimism in the scene. In the research and creative development phase, we thought about how to make the balloons organically drift, stack, compress, and accumulate, progressively filling the space with a dynamic sense of motion.

Global Displays: Bubbles
Salesforce
This was one of our most far-reaching projects: sixteen lobby screens across the world, each with varying sizes and aspect ratios. The Salesforce team wanted an engaging, meditative experience for visitors, built around organic, iridescent bubbles. The challenge was to bring that idea to life while maintaining precise control over every movement and shape, and delivering it all on time, despite more than 35 days of rendering across the project. It was a formidable technical challenge, but one our team was excited to take on.

This was a favorite part of the project for us, playing with a variety of brand elements and bubble textures to see what works best. We found that including architectural elements in the foreground helped viewers fully experience the depth of our environments, especially in the Salesforce East Tower, where we were able to push perspective. See the large image below.

Global Displays: Holiday
Salesforce
Working with Salesforce on another project for their large displays across global offices was a blast. This one came just in time for the holidays. There’s even talk of turning some of these 3D characters into bobbleheads or wooden keepsakes. Fingers crossed we get to share those with you someday.

Process
With each client collaboration, the creative process gets a little more intuitive. Jumping into another Salesforce project with our friends on the real estate team was a blast. Here’s a peek behind the scenes at some of the work, explorations, and happy accidents along the way.
